  Raleigh, N.C. - Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 96 of North Carolina’s counties in June and decreased in four. The June not seasonally adjusted statewide rate was 5.2 percent. When compared to the same month last year, not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates decreased in all 100 counties. All 15 metro areas experienced rate decreases over the year.  read more...

  RALEIGH — Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in 98 of North Carolina’s counties in May and remained unchanged in two. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 8.6 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.5 percent. Fourteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases and one remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 6.9 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 3.7 percent. Scotland County had the highest unemployment rate at 9.5 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 3.7 percent. Fourteen of the state’s metro areas experienced rate decreases and one remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.6 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 3.9 percent.   Raleigh, N.C. - Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) decreased in all 100 of North Carolina's counties in March. Hyde County had the highest unemployment rate at 13.3 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.2 percent. All 15 of the state's metro areas experienced rate decreases. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.6 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.4 percent. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.3 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.2 percent.   RALEIGH —Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 38 of North Carolina's counties in November, decreased in 37, and remained unchanged in 25. Graham County had the highest unemployment rate at 11.5 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.1 percent. Two of the state's metro areas experienced rate increases while nine decreased and four remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.6 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.3 percent.   RALEIGH — Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 83 of North Carolina's counties in October, decreased in six, and remained unchanged in 11. Scotland and Graham Counties had the highest unemployment rates, each at 10.3 percent, while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.1 percent. Fourteen of the state's metro areas experienced rate increases and one experienced a decrease. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 7.7 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.4 percent. 10/20/2015 North Carolina's September County and Area Employment Figures Released
  RALEIGH — The state's seasonally adjusted September unemployment rate was 5.8 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from August's revised rate. The national rate remained unchanged at 5.1 percent. North Carolina's September 2015 unemployment rate was unchanged from a year ago. The number of people employed increased 3,670 over the month to 4,476,319 and increased 118,509 over the year. The number of people unemployed decreased 4,664 over the month to 276,072, and increased 7,090 over the year.  read more...

Fourteen of the state's metro areas experienced rate decreases while one remained unchanged. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 8.8 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 4.8 percent. Graham and Scotland Counties each had the highest unemployment rate at 11.7 percent while Buncombe County had the lowest at 4.8 percent. All fifteen of the state's metro areas experienced rate increases. Among the Metro areas, Rocky Mount at 9.1 percent experienced the highest rate and Asheville had the lowest rate at 5.1 percent.
