Assistant Secretary of the Division of Employment Security Ted Brinn Jr.
In April of 2016 W.T. Brinn Jr.(Ted) was named Assistant Secretary of the Division of Employment Security. Brinn has been employed with the Division of Employment Security, previously the Employment Security Commission, for over 30 years. He has held various positions including branch office manager, tax auditor, field tax operations manager, chief of tax and most recently chief deputy.
He is a certified public manager with the state of North Carolina. Brinn was appointed to represent the southeastern region on a national committee that developed quality standards for UI taxation and audit. At the request of the U.S. Department of Labor he has spoken and been the lead trainer nationally regarding the practice known as SUTA dumping.
After graduation from Barton College, where he played on the baseball team, and post graduate course work in accounting at various institutions, Brinn was employed at a mid-sized family interstate trucking business. He served as controller and office manager while there.
Brinn is married with two children and four grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with the grandchildren, golf and Harley riding.
